Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Seymour Holt (ranked 4951 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karol Kowalczyk (ranked 6245 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Seymour Holt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Karol Kowalczyk!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holt tries to clinch

Holt decides to stand and escape the position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kowalczyk throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Holt.

and Holt counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Holt takes a little break here. Kowalczyk wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Kowalczyk is working to avoid the ground and pound but Holt connects with a decent elbow.

You can see the frustration on Kowalczyk's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Holt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kowalczyk, who protects the arm well.

Holt lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Kowalczyk down.

Kowalczyk felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Holt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Holt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Holt connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Kowalczyk some visible discomfort.
Kowalczyk is pushing Holt's head away, looking to escape. Holt manages to hold on to the position though.
Holt has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Kowalczyk closes the distance and clinches.
Holt goes for a takedown attempt but Kowalczyk pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Holt looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kowalczyk with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Holt is taking a breather. Kowalczyk says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kowalczyk moves into the clinch successfully.
Holt tries to pull guard but Kowalczyk forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Kowalczyk has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Holt avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Holt tightens his grip and picks Kowalczyk up, before dumping him to the ground. Kowalczyk manages to land in guard.

Holt is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Kowalczyk sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Holt, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
