Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Lyttle (ranked 6377 p4p, 501 weight class) and Damien Lucic (ranked 4047 p4p, 405 weight class). Jamal Lyttle has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lyttle fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lucic looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Lyttle gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lucic lands a couple of digs.
Lucic postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Lucic with a flurry of punches that miss.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lucic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lucic working his ground and pound in the gym.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lyttle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lucic stands and throws Lyttle's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Lyttle parries the strikes from Lucic easily there. Lucic is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lyttle to escape.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Lucic manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lyttle on his heels. He'll look to pass Lyttle's guard now, I'm sure.

Lyttle kicks Lucic off and gets to his feet.
Lucic cracks Lyttle with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Lucic moves out of range as Lyttle strikes.
Lyttle swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lucic.
Lucic avoids the body shot from Lyttle.
Lucic wants to clinch.

Lucic closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lyttle quickly recovers to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lyttle is trying to get back to full guard.
Lucic has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

It looks like Jamal Lyttle has been cut.
Lucic looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lyttle with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Lucic is taking a breather. Lyttle says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

In his post fight interview, Damien Lucic started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
