And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jesse Kilpatrick!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilpatrick throws a lazy uppercut
and Kilpatrick takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Kilpatrick fakes high and swings low for a body shot but El Toro Jr manages to avoid it.
El Toro Jr lands a nice hook to Kilpatrick's body. Kilpatrick takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
El Toro Jr throws a leg kick that misses.
Kilpatrick drops down looking to force a counter takedown but El Toro Jr defends it well.
Kilpatrick throws a jab but it's blocked by El Toro Jr.
Kilpatrick avoids a punch combination nicely.
El Toro Jr throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Kilpatrick seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Kilpatrick working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
El Toro Jr is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kilpatrick is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

El Toro Jr is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Can Factory, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kilpatrick connects with a nice short shot to El Toro Jr's temple.

Kilpatrick is nestled in close to El Toro Jr, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kilpatrick looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks El Toro Jr with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
