And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diyorbek Nurudinov!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Ruas. Those never looked like landing.
Ruas dives in and grabs Nurudinov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Nurudinov pushes down on Ruas's head and hops out.

Nurudinov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nurudinov lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ruas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nurudinov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nurudinov wants to pass the guard but Ruas is keeping the position.
Ruas doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruas wants to sweep here but Nurudinov controlling him for the moment.
Ruas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Nurudinov is refusing to be controlled, as Ruas sits in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ruas trying to pass the guard but Nurudinov defending well.
Nurudinov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Nurudinov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ruas wants to take a breather but Nurudinov is having none of it.
Nurudinov tries to roll over but Ruas keeps him under control.
Nurudinov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Ruas moves nicely into side control.
Nurudinov tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
Nurudinov tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Ruas is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Nurudinov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nurudinov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nurudinov is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ruas's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Ruas! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Nurudinov has tapped! This one is allllll over!
