Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jerrold Cole (ranked 5019 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hessu Kaito (ranked 5020 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jerrold Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hessu Kaito!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaito will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Cole feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kaito has his feet on Cole's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Kaito shoots in for a takedown but Cole shows good takedown defense.

Cole shoots in and bounces Kaito off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Cole is standing up over Kaito. Kaito looks to escape but Cole dives into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cole cracks Kaito with a big right hand but Kaito just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kaito on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Kaito manages to get back to half guard.

Kaito wants to improve his position but Cole is controlling well.
Cole lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Cole drops an elbow to the side of Kaito's head.
Cole will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Cole is nestled in close to Kaito, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Cole throwing shots but Kaito is blocking nicely.
Cole has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kaito tries to roll over but Cole keeps him under control.

Kaito slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Cole throws an elbow that misses. Kaito uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cole's guard. Nice move by Kaito!


Cole is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Kaito is looking for a takedown.

Kaito fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The referee is keeping an eye on Kaito - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Kaito breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kaito dives in for a single leg takedown but Cole sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kaito throws a half hearted mid kick.
Cole throwing a counter right hand but Kaito manages to avoid it.

and Cole counters with a shoot takedown. Kaito fights it but they end up in guard.
Kaito is wriggling around but Cole manages to pass to half guard.

Cole scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Kaito throws a sloppy head kick and Cole moves out of range easily.
Cole wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Kaito fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kaito keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Cole.
Kaito is trying hard to land a takedown here. Cole sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kaito shoots in looking for a takedown. Cole tries to sprawl out of it but Kaito keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cole manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Cole dives in and scores a takedown into Kaito's guard.

Kaito has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Cole has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Kaito drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Cole fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kaito avoids it really well and circles away.

Cole fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kaito to the ground. Cole is now in Kaito's guard.

Cole gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nice takedown defense from Cole. No joy for Kaito on that attempt.
Cole is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kaito can do to turn this around?

Kaito is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cole dives into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kaito wants to get back to his feet but Cole drags him back down.

Cole works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Cole shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kaito manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Kaito wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Cole manages to pass to side control.

Cole is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kaito has managed to free his arm - good work.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Cole shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Kaito is trying to defend but Cole finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Cole working over Kaito with some ground and pound. Kaito looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Kaito is looking to control Cole's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kaito avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jerrold Cole overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kaito has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cole is working away from the top position though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cole really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kaito takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kaito can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cole controls the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kaito trying to keep a closed guard but Cole is proving a slippery customer.

Kaito looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cole puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Kaito is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cole scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hessu Kaito has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jerrold Cole is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Kaito is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cole pulls his head out easily.

Well Cole has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
