PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Svend Haraldsson (ranked 2231 p4p, 279 weight class) and Dum Debble (ranked 3124 p4p, 368 weight class). Dum Debble told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Svend Haraldsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dum Debble!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Haraldsson misses.
Debble throws a lazy uppercut
and Haraldsson counters with a nice body shot.
A bone on bone clash there as Debble blocks the leg kick.
Debble steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Haraldsson.
Haraldsson throws out a loose jab but Debble uses good head movement to avoid it.
Haraldsson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
A big right from Debble misses.

Debble closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Debble lands in his opponent's guard.
Debble is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Debble tries to free his leg and advance position but Haraldsson is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Haraldsson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Debble controls from within his opponent's guard.

Debble slips nicely into half guard.
Debble seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Debble is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Haraldsson reverses the position - he's now on top in Debble's guard.

Haraldsson preventing the sweep.
Haraldsson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Debble is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Haraldsson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Haraldsson works a leg free and moves into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Debble throws a body punch but Haraldsson moves out of range.
Debble dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Haraldsson cracks Debble with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Debble stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Debble looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Debble postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Haraldsson keeping moving, preventing Debble from controlling successfully.
Debble showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dum Debble will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Debble misses with a body punch
and Debble takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Haraldsson lands a front kick.
Debble swings widly with a right hand
and Haraldsson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Debble lands a jab to the nose.
Debble lands a really nice looking cross but Haraldsson seems unphased.
Debble misses with a straight right.
Haraldsson moves out of range of the strikes.
Haraldsson is looking to counter the offense by Debble and move into the clinch.
Haraldsson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


Haraldsson is rocked!
Debble fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Haraldsson square on the jaw! Damn, Haraldsson is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dum Debble!
After winning the bout, Dum Debble thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
