The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
valadao shoots for a double leg takedown but Machida sprawls well. He's pushed valadao's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
valadao has a takedown stuffed.

Machida shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Machida showed some decent athleticism there.

valadao is trying to maintain the position but Machida is very close to passing his half guard.

Machida is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. valadao can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Machida decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on valadao, up you get!

Machida fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with valadao, pushing him back against the cage.

Machida ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Machida no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

valadao has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Machida to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! valadao is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Machida pulls down on the head and he's put valadao to sleep! This one is all over!
