The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nott moves out of range as mendes throws a body kick.
Nott tries to clinch up.

mendes had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nott is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. mendes Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nott's back instead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

You get the feeling that Nott really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Nott sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Nott shoots in looking for a takedown. mendes tries to sprawl out of it but Nott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. mendes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
