Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Diaz has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Sagar has momentary wrist control but Diaz slips an elbow through the middle.
Diaz prevents Sagar from getting back to his feet.
Sagar is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Diaz working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Diaz is nestled in close to Sagar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Diaz connects with a nice short shot to Sagar's temple.
Sagar is still in real trouble! Can Diaz finish him?

Diaz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sagar with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Sagar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Diaz scores with a couple of nice shots.

Sagar is looking to improve his position.
Diaz lands a big elbow - Sagar is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Diaz!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Nate Diaz!
A relieved looking Nate Diaz thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
