Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Devira (ranked 5341 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladamir Emelianenko (ranked 6202 p4p, 0 weight class). Vladamir Emelianenko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Devira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladamir Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Devira displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Devira.
Emelianenko has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Devira pushes Emelianenko up against the cage in a clinch.
Emelianenko is trying to drag Devira to the mat but Devira just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Devira jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Emelianenko walks away with a smile on his face. Devira gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Devira moves out of range of the leg kick from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Devira sprawls well. Devira wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Emelianenko gets slowly back to his feet.
Johnny Devira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vladamir Emelianenko.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Emelianenko leaves Devira with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Devira throws a big counter combination but Emelianenko scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

And Emelianenko tries to counter it with a takedown but Devira pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Emelianenko looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Emelianenko is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Devira is just riding it out for now. Emelianenko eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Emelianenko content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Emelianenko is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Devira looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Emelianenko wants to control but Devira is keeping him busy.

Emelianenko tries to bum rush Devira with a series of wild strikes but Devira uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And Devira counters with a quick kick to the body but Emelianenko blocks it.
Devira shoots in but no luck this time.
Emelianenko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Devira circles away quickly and effectively.

Devira scores with a decent looking hook.

Emelianenko throws a nice looking combination but Devira bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Emelianenko gets to mount! Devira was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Emelianenko takes Devira's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Devira is in trouble.

What can Devira do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Emelianenko is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Devira has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Devira is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
I really don't envy Devira right now.

Emelianenko has the hooks in. Devira is starting to panic. He's trying to push off one of the legs but he's left his neck open to attack. Emelianenko passes his arm under Devira's neck and tightens up a rear naked choke! This one is surely all over! Yes, Devira taps!
