Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dick Avery!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mytas Jones!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Avery sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Jones is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Avery has managed to free his arm - good work.
Avery throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Avery regains full guard. Nicely done.
Avery looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.
Avery knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
Avery throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones forces his way into half guard.
Avery regains full guard. Nicely done.
Avery avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Jones has gone for a leg lock! Avery slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.

Avery is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Avery might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Jones looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Avery is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Avery wants to sweep but no luck.

Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Avery is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard.

Avery with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jones looks winded!
Avery slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Avery postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Mytas Jones will probably get the nod.

Avery fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jones is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Avery is looking to improve his position.
Mytas Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.
Avery slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Avery defends it well.

Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but Avery is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jones is breathing heavily.
Jones wants to control from the top but Avery keeps moving.
Avery will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Avery could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Avery keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Jones won't allow Avery to get back to his feet.
Avery looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Jones drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Avery manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jones has Avery in his guard.

Avery is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top!

Jones passes into half guard.
Avery tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jones trying to control from Avery's half guard. Avery has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Avery is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Avery wants to hit a switch here but Jones passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Avery there!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jones looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mytas Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Avery clinches with his opponent.
Avery is struggling to control the position.

Jones jumps guard and drags Avery to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Avery can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Avery is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Avery wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.

Avery is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Avery slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Jones isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Avery stacks Jones on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Avery!
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Avery controls the position from side control.
Avery seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jones for as long as he can get away with.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones looks to move to half guard but instead Avery has passed into mount! Damn!
Jones is in a horrible position here. Avery smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Avery looking for a guillotine from mount but Jones is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones is working to get back to half guard.
Avery takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Avery is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Jones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jones shrugs it off.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dick Avery showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
