Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Jones Jr (ranked 22878 p4p, 583 weight class) and Thorvald Espensen (ranked 1956 p4p, 236 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Jones Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thorvald Espensen!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones Jr connects with a good right hand that stumbles Espensen. Espensen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Jones Jr is looking to clinch but Espensen is avoiding it.
We've been hearing reports that Jones Jr has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Espensen cracks Jones Jr with a right hand to the side of the head.
Espensen wants to clinch up but Jones Jr keeps it at a distance.
Jones Jr lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Jones Jr moves into the clinch successfully.
Jones Jr has a couple of punches blocked by Espensen.
Espensen is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Espensen misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jones Jr has Espensen pressed against the ropes, preventing Espensen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
A head punch on the inside from Espensen fails to land.
Espensen lands with a light punch inside.
Nice body punch from Jones Jr.
Jones Jr throws a punch but it's blocked by Espensen.
Jones Jr can't find room to land a body shot as Espensen controls the action.

Jones Jr successfully pulls guard.
Jones Jr is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Espensen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones Jr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Espensen wants to stand but Jones Jr has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Espensen is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Espensen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jones Jr is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Espensen rolls with it to try and escape but Jones Jr cranks on the arm and Espensen is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Jim Jones Jr!
After winning the bout, Jim Jones Jr thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
