Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ladera Hawthorne (ranked 2664 p4p, 298 weight class) and Noku Mutku (ranked 3837 p4p, 366 weight class). Hawthorne's entrance music is Beef Rap - MF DOOM. A fine choice. The key to victory for Ladera Hawthorne has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawthorne buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

and Hawthorne counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Noku Mutku has been cut.
Hawthorne avoids a punch combination nicely.
A little feinted left hand from Hawthorne on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Hawthorne has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Fist of Fury Training Center in the buildup to the fight.
Mutku feints and as Hawthorne raises his hands in defense, Mutku changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mutku passes Hawthorne's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hawthorne might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mutku is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hawthorne tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mutku cracks Hawthorne with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mutku tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hawthorne is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Mutku lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hawthorne is bucking up trying to escape but Mutku cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mutku lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Hawthorne throws a sloppy head kick and Mutku moves out of range easily.
Mutku shoots in but Hawthorne avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Mutku doesn't manage to clinch there - Hawthorne circles away.

Mutku is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hawthorne sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hawthorne closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Mutku! Hawthorne dives in looking to finish! Mutku is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
