Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

6 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Altintop Palonesess!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves pushes Palonesess up against the ropes in a clinch.
Alves pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Palonesess tries to free his leg and advance position but Alves is retaining full guard.
Alves throws his legs up looking for a submission but Palonesess uses it to pass to side control.
Palonesess is trying to get an arm triangle but Alves is defending well.
Palonesess is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Alves's shoulder. That is not cool.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palonesess wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Palonesess takes a swing at Alves's ribcage but misses.
Altintop Palonesess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palonesess takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

and Alves counters with a shoot takedown. Palonesess fights it but they end up in guard.

Alves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Palonesess dives on top into guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Alves counters by moving into the clinch.

Palonesess drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Alves gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Alves pulls guard successfully.
Alves is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Alves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Palonesess manages to get himself to full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Alves is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Alves looking to sit in guard and control but Palonesess gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Palonesess tries to stand but Alves is controlling from the bottom.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Palonesess shoots in for a double leg but Alves sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Luiz Alves is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Alves shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Palonesess's guard.
Alves is pushing down on Palonesess's leg trying to pass to half guard. Palonesess is fighting to maintain full guard but Alves has managed to sneak the leg through.

Alves seems to be working for a kimura but Palonesess defends the submission attempt.

Alves looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Palonesess flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Alves stands up out of the half guard.
Palonesess throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alves's waist but Alves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Palonesess off to one side.
A right-left combo lands from Alves.
Palonesess shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Luiz Alves has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Altintop Palonesess.
Alves scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Alves stops Palonesess from getting back to his feet.
Still in half guard, Alves seems content to control.
Luiz Alves overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Alves has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Palonesess doesn't manage to clinch there - Alves circles away.
Alves shoots in and gets a takedown into Palonesess's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palonesess swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Altintop Palonesess has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
