Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Karter (ranked 1112 p4p, 137 weight class) and Philip Gallagher (ranked 1366 p4p, 165 weight class). Gallagher is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Vindictives - Stupid Song. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 16 - 2, fighting out of New York, Chris Karter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Philip Gallagher!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gallagher misses with a looping right.
Karter looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Karter shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gallagher's guard.
Karter trying to control but Gallagher is working from the bottom.
Karter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gallagher is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Karter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gallagher has his hands on Karter's head, controlling the position.
Karter is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Karter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Karter looking to sit in guard and control but Gallagher gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Karter wants to sweep here but Gallagher controlling him for the moment.

Karter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gallagher defends it easily.

Gallagher stands and steps away. Karter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Gallagher feints and then cracks Karter's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Karter down.

Karter was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

and Gallagher counters with a low kick, right behind Karter 's knee.
Gallagher tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Karter manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Karter misses with a left hand
and Gallagher finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Karter throws a hook to the side of Gallagher's head but Gallagher sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gallagher, as that shot connected.

and Gallagher counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Philip Gallagher is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nice shot lands for Karter.

Gallagher ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

and Karter counters with a nice kick to the body.
Gallagher connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Karter momentarily.

Chris Karter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gallagher ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Karter closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Karter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gallagher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gallagher doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Karter fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Karter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Karter throws a leg kick but Gallagher sees it coming and moves out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Karter takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Good leg kick by Karter there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Gallagher takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Karter fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gallagher manages to avoid it.

Gallagher tries to bum rush Karter with a series of wild strikes but Karter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gallagher looks to land a combination but Karter avoids it well.

Gallagher uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Karter.
Gallagher moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Gallagher walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Karter throws a looping overhand right but Gallagher ducks down to avoid it.

and Gallagher counters with a slapping leg kick.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
