The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcfadden lands a jab to Blackbeard's midsection.
Blackbeard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mcfadden.
Mcfadden shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Blackbeard wants to sweep but Mcfadden has passed to side control!
Mcfadden sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Blackbeard is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Blackbeard really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcfadden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mcfadden lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Blackbeard down.
Mcfadden could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Blackbeard is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Mcfadden is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
