PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kasey Scorpion (ranked 70 p4p, 9 weight class) and Marco Ajax (ranked 99 p4p, 12 weight class). Scorpion's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Jiu Jitsu. Ajax has chosen For Heavy Metal we will die! as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kasey Scorpion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 41 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Ajax!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ajax throws a head kick but Scorpion moves out of range.
Ajax throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Ajax digs a good body shot into Scorpion's ribs.
Scorpion misses with a straight right.
Ajax misses with a low kick.
Scorpion slips under a jab from Ajax.
Ajax wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ajax has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Scorpion finds it's way round the side to connect with Ajax's head.
Ajax misses with a two punch combination.
Scorpion fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ajax manages to avoid it.
Ajax scores with a kick to the midsection.
Ajax throws a chopping leg kick but Scorpion manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Scorpion punishes Ajax's body with a nice straight punch.
Scorpion moves out of range as Ajax strikes.
A quick step to the side and Scorpion tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ajax defending well as Scorpion loads up on a big left hand.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Scorpion darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Scorpion throws a body shot but no joy.
Ajax pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ajax lands a two punch combo.
Scorpion throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ajax tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Scorpion stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ajax.
Scorpion throws a body punch but Ajax moves out of range.
Ajax appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Ajax throws a right and a left that Scorpion avoids nicely.
Scorpion lands a body shot.
Ajax takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Ajax stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Scorpion connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Scorpion uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ajax has time to react.
It looks like Scorpion has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
That kick from Ajax tenderised Scorpion's leg. Scorpion is trying to keep his angry face on.

Ajax wants to take a breather but Scorpion is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Scorpion has hold of Ajax's hands but Ajax slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ajax is looking to take a break and control but Scorpion is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ajax lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Scorpion is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ajax's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ajax's back!

Ajax tries to roll but Scorpion sticks to his back.
Scorpion has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ajax's body.
Scorpion tries to keep control of the position but Ajax is staying busy.
Scorpion doesn't have the hooks in and Ajax manages to turn into his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Scorpion is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marco Ajax dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Scorpion throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Scorpion ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Scorpion counters with a stiff right hand.
Ajax has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Scorpion finds it's way round the side to connect with Ajax's head.
Ajax tries to move into range but Scorpion moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Scorpion throws a lazy right hand but Ajax sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ajax changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Scorpion was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Ajax counters with a good low kick that Scorpion was not able to check.
Scorpion bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Scorpion fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ajax sprawls well initially but Scorpion persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ajax is trying to control but can't.
Scorpion wants to pass to mount but Ajax is defending the position.

Scorpion has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kasey Scorpion will probably get the nod.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ajax closes the distance and clinches up with Scorpion, looking for a takedown. Ajax pushes Scorpion against the cage but Scorpion circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ajax needs to keep his hands up - Scorpion had a free shot at his head there.

Scorpion closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Scorpion lands in his opponent's guard.
Ajax can't keep his opponent in guard - Scorpion advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ajax is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Scorpion has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Scorpion can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ajax is looking to escape.

I think Scorpion has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
