Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cornell Gibbs (ranked 7401 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gorden Giles (ranked 5158 p4p, 0 weight class). Gorden Giles will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gorden Giles!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gibbs checks a leg kick.

Gibbs rushes Giles and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Gibbs is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Gibbs tries to circle away but Giles has him pinned against the cage.
Giles jumps guard but Gibbs stands there with Giles around his waist. Giles gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

and Gibbs connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Giles tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gibbs sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Giles somewhat.
Gibbs swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Giles shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gibbs defends it nicely.

and Gibbs counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Giles thinking.

Gibbs closes the distance and pushes Giles back into the cage.

and Gibbs counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Giles tries to bum rush Gibbs with a series of wild strikes but Gibbs uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gibbs went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Giles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Gibbs moves into the clinch successfully.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gibbs bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Giles's guard.

Gibbs is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Gibbs is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Giles is striking but Gibbs is not phased and passes to half guard.
Gibbs content to control rather than advance.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Giles is looking to improve his position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Gibbs.

Giles shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gibbs pinned against the cage. Gibbs gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gibbs is defended easily by Giles.

Giles has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Gibbs regains guard immediately.

Giles won't allow Gibbs to get back to his feet.
Gibbs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Giles can do to turn this around?

Gibbs is pulling down on Giles's head. It's preventing any offense from Giles, at least for the moment.
Giles throws a strike but Gibbs rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Gibbs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gibbs is in close to Giles's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Giles is looking to sweep but instead, Gibbs has passed into half guard.
Gibbs perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Cornell Gibbs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gibbs lands strikes from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Giles is trying to control but can't.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Giles forces Gibbs back against the cage and clinches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cornell Gibbs showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Gibbs has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
