Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Wright (ranked 4709 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franky Yip (ranked 2882 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yip fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wright looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Yip throws a body kick that misses.
As Yip looks to move away, Wright throws a big counter combo but Yip just gets out of the way.
Wright shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Yip counters with a nice uppercut.
Ethan Wright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Yip cracks Wright with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Wright with a lazy takedown attempt
and Yip cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wright fails with the takedown
and Yip counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ethan Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yip clobbers Wright with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Wright takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Wright dives in and grabs Yip's left leg, looking for a takedown. Yip pushes down on Wright's head and hops out.
Yip has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Wright is landing a low percentage of strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wright shoots in for a takedown but Yip shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Wright tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Yip paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Yip lands a nice hook to Wright's body. Wright takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Yip fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wright.
Wright gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Yip makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Wright is breathing heavily.
Yip lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Yip comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Yip is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Wright had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Yip stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

and Yip connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Yip makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Wright really felt that one!
Oh Wright is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Crack! Yip connects with the perfect overhand right and Wright falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Yip!
