Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bill Newton (ranked 1052 p4p, 139 weight class) and Jason Sturd Jr (ranked 403 p4p, 50 weight class). Sturd Jr has chosen Waka Flocka Flame - 50K (Neon Dreams Remix) as his entrance music. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

With a record of 35 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Sturd Jr!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton lands with a good body shot.
Newton throws a hook to the side of Sturd Jr's head but Sturd Jr sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Sturd Jr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sturd Jr walks into a stiff left hand from Newton.

We've been hearing reports that Newton has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Sturd Jr has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
