Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Goodwin (ranked 7053 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Tyson (ranked 5416 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ed Goodwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Tyson !
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Goodwin swivels and escapes.
Goodwin seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Tyson clinches up with Goodwin and pushes him back against the cage.

Tyson has Goodwin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tyson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Goodwin tumbling to the mat - Tyson dives into Goodwin's guard.

Goodwin has his feet on Tyson 's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

and Goodwin counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Goodwin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ed Goodwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Tyson .

Tyson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The strikes coming from Tyson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Goodwin throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Goodwin is looking for a sweep.
Goodwin is trying to control Tyson 's posture but Tyson avoids it.

Tyson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Goodwin has escaped the position, nice work there.

Tyson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Goodwin shoots in but no luck this time.
Tyson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Goodwin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Goodwin is trying to keep Tyson in close.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Goodwin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Tyson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Tyson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Tyson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Tyson darts in looking for a takedown but Goodwin gets double underhooks and turns Tyson into the cage.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ed Goodwin will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Goodwin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tyson but Tyson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Tyson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Johnny Tyson has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Goodwin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Tyson shoots in for a takedown but Goodwin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Goodwin went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Goodwin is pulling down on Tyson 's head to control his posture.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Tyson misses with a takedown attempt - Goodwin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Johnny Tyson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Tyson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tyson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Goodwin is defending well for now.
Tyson lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Goodwin.

Tyson winds up and cracks Goodwin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Tyson wants to control but Goodwin is keeping him busy.

Goodwin is staying active underneath Tyson , who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Tyson is just content to waste time from the top position. Goodwin takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Goodwin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Tyson 's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tyson fails with the takedown.
Tyson shoots in but no luck this time.
Goodwin throws a quick counter head kick but Tyson was just out of range.

and Goodwin counters with a series of strikes. Tyson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Tyson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Goodwin fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Tyson is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Goodwin has hold of one of Tyson 's legs. Tyson is fighting the takedown attempt but Goodwin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Goodwin's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Tyson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Goodwin's guard.


Goodwin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Goodwin lands a couple of elbows.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Goodwin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tyson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Goodwin has Tyson in his guard.

Tyson wants to control from the top but Goodwin keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ed Goodwin.
I think Goodwin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
