The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice inside leg kick there by Vanderbilt. That's going to slow Borgia down.
A punch lands to the side of Borgia 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Vanderbilt feints and then cracks Borgia's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Borgia down.
Nice takedown defense from Vanderbilt. No joy for Borgia on that attempt.
Michel James Vanderbilt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Michel James Vanderbilt is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Borgia crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Vanderbilt - the referee stops the clock and Borgia gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Vanderbilt. Borgia manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

The fighters circle momentarily. Vanderbilt darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Borgia stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Vanderbilt.
Oooooh!!! Vanderbilt has knocked Borgia down with a huge combo! Vanderbilt steps away and waves a wobbly Borgia back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Cezare Borgia's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Borgia takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Borgia. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Borgia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Borgia's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Borgia uses his free foot to push down on Vanderbilt's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vanderbilt.
