Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cody Paris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Liam Lightning!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paris closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lightning quickly recovers to half guard.
Paris sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lightning defending well though.
Paris thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lightning's head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lightning can do anything to dispel that myth.
Paris is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Paris seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Lightning for as long as he can get away with.
Paris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Paris drops an elbow to the side of Lightning's head.
Paris is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Lightning wants to improve his position but Paris is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Paris has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Paris landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Lightning is trying to stand.
Paris working over Lightning with some ground and pound. Lightning looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Paris takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Paris is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Lightning sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paris winds up and cracks Lightning with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Paris looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lightning with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Paris works his way into side control.
Lightning taking a bit of punishment here - Paris scoring with strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Paris lands a decent elbow from side control.


Lightning is rocked!

Lightning is still in real trouble! Can Paris finish him?
A big shot lands for Paris! That's hurt Lightning! Will he recover? Paris fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Paris!
Cody Paris tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
