PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Soul Jah (ranked 2104 p4p, 219 weight class) and Antonio Montana (ranked 2426 p4p, 238 weight class). Jah comes to the cage accompanied by Bob Marley - Buffalo Soldier. Montana is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Push it to the Limit. Soul Jah had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Soul Jah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Antonio Montana!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montana tries to clinch up but Jah circles away and keeps his distance.
A little feinted left hand from Jah on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Good exchange - Montana coming out on top.
Montana misses with a head kick.

and Jah counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

As Montana looks to move away, Jah throws a big counter combo but Montana just gets out of the way.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Montana shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jah pinned against the cage. Jah gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Jah counters with a crisp one two that drops Montana! Jah thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Montana to his feet! Montana is in big trouble!
Jah is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Montana throws a lazy right hand but Jah sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Montana tries a knee to the head but Jah blocks it.

A bit of stalling here from Jah.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Montana creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Montana bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jah's guard.

Montana chips away with some ground and pound.
Montana trying to control the position from guard on top but Jah is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jah is pulling down on Montana's head to control his posture.
Jah wants to stand up but Montana is controlling him.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Montana lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Antonio Montana seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jah stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Montana.

Montana is trying to pull guard but Jah turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Montana has closed the distance and engaged Jah in a clinch.

Montana moves in looking to clinch but Jah pushes him off.
It looked like Jah was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Montana stalks Jah and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jah's face. Jah staggers backwards, shaken.
Montana tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jah defends well and Montana ends up having to push Jah into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jah tried to counter with a leg kick but Montana avoided it.
Montana fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Montana lands a glancing blow to the side of Jah's head.
Montana tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jah manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Montana throws a shot from downtown. Jah moves away and avoids it.

Montana doesn't manage to clinch there - Jah circles away.

Montana darts in looking for a takedown but Jah gets double underhooks and turns Montana into the cage.

Montana takes the fight into the clinch.
Jah using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Montana has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Montana swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Come on Montana - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Montana is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jah is keeping busy.
Montana tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jah just stands there and leans against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jah landing knees to the head.
Jah is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Montana is defending well for now.

That was a close second round but I would say that Soul Jah will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Montana will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Jah up against the cage.

It looks like Antonio Montana has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Soul Jah showed his dominance in that final round.
