Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hamish Reid (ranked 962 p4p, 122 weight class) and Brutus Brannagan (ranked 1472 p4p, 178 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hamish Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brutus Brannagan!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reid has closed the distance and engaged Brannagan in a clinch.
Brannagan digs a right hand into Reid's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Reid's gas tank.
Nice body punch from Brannagan.
Brannagan throws a head punch that misses.
Reid is pushing Brannagan up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Reid's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Reid lands with a right to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Reid enables Brannagan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Reid manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Reid lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Reid misses with a punch to the body.
Reid prevents a takedown attempt there.
Brannagan is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Reid breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Reid looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Reid.
Reid throws a right and a left that Brannagan avoids nicely.
Reid moves away from the strike by Brannagan.
Reid lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Brannagan throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Reid turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Brannagan circles away from the clinch attempt.

Brannagan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Reid on his heels. He'll look to pass Reid's guard now, I'm sure.

Reid has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Brannagan has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close second round but I would say that Hamish Reid will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Brannagan uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Reid checks a leg kick.

and Reid counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Brannagan connects with a nice short shot to Reid's temple.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Brannagan is nestled in close to Reid, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Brannagan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Reid is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Hamish Reid is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Brannagan won't let Reid get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
