Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Larry Haggus (ranked 5197 p4p, 474 weight class) and Ethan Wright (ranked 6496 p4p, 519 weight class). The key to victory for Larry Haggus has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Larry Haggus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ethan Wright!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wright fails with the takedown.
Haggus looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Haggus tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wright swats him away and circles back towards the center.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Haggus is trying to maintain the position but Wright is very close to passing his half guard.
Well, if Wright is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Wright really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Haggus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Wright connects with a nice short shot to Haggus's temple.

Wright is looking to take a break and control but Haggus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wright working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wright lands a nice short elbow.
Haggus is looking for a sweep. Wright is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wright winds up and cracks Haggus with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wright looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Haggus with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wright is nestled in close to Haggus, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wright lands a nice short elbow.


Haggus is rocked!
Wright is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Oh Haggus is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Wright is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Haggus doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wright.

Wright seems to be looking for submissions.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wright is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Wright stalling away here and it's allowed Haggus to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Wright is working Haggus over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Haggus controls Wright momentarily but Wright frees himself.
Wright working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Haggus's head.

Wright lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Haggus quite badly. Haggus pulls Wright in close trying to recover. Wright postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Haggus on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Haggus doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ethan Wright!
During a confident post fight interview, Ethan Wright thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
