PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Davie Brophy (ranked 220 p4p, 29 weight class) and Vyrkyx Dall (ranked 569 p4p, 65 weight class). Brophy comes to the cage accompanied by Pantera - Walk. Dall has chosen The Worm as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Davie Brophy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vyrkyx Dall!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brophy scores with a shot to the body.
Dall has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Brophy is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Brophy moves in looking to clinch but Dall pushes him off.

Dall closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Brophy is trying to improve his position.
Brophy seems a little lost for a moment, as Dall dominates the positioning.
Brophy stops Dall from passing to mount.
Dall tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dall is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brophy is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Brophy is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Dall swings around for an armbar but Brophy sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Dall's guard.

Dall isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Brophy stacks Dall on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Brophy!
Dall tries to bench press Brophy off him but Brophy keeps the position.

Brophy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Dall knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Dall is looking to reverse the position.
Dall can't do much from the bottom here.
Brophy content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Dall's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Dall sneaks back into half guard.
Brophy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dall does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brophy avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Brophy lands with a right hand.
Dall on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Brophy. Brophy obviously looking to wear him down.
Dall throws a jab but it's blocked by Brophy.
Brophy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
No joy there for Dall, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
A low kick from Dall misses
and Brophy counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Dall throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Brophy sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Dall takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Brophy will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Brophy throws a jab but it's blocked by Dall.
Dall takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A big right from Brophy misses.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dall throws a jab when Brophy was well out of range.
Brophy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Brophy appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Brophy cracks Dall with an open hand slap.
Brophy throws a hook to the side of Dall's head but Dall sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Dall throws a leg kick but Brophy checks it.
Dall moves forwards but Brophy connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Vyrkyx Dall has got the better of the ground game so far.
Brophy is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Dall off and has taken his back!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dall turns into Brophy and is now in his guard.

Dall looking to sit in guard and control but Brophy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Dall has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Brophy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dall.

Dall struggling a bit here.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Davie Brophy will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Brophy connects with a high kick.
The fighters circling - Brophy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Brophy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Dall moves away.
Dall looks to throw the jab but Brophy is out of range.
Dall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Brophy was well out of range. Poor timing from Dall.
Dall tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Brophy defends well and Dall ends up having to push Brophy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Dall dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brophy. That did some damage!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dall creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Brophy sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Brophy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dall is looking to get back to full guard here but Brophy has managed to pass to side control instead.
Brophy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dall keeps working.
Dall is looking for a sweep.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brophy, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
