The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kemp keeps the fight on the outside.
Kemp swats away the attempt to clinch by Ortiz.
Kemp is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ortiz.
Kemp fails to land the takedown.
Kemp shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ortiz sprawls well. Ortiz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kemp gets slowly back to his feet.
Ortiz tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Kemp really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ortiz lands with a nice body punch.

Ortiz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kemp did well to prevent Ortiz getting side control.

Kemp throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ortiz can do anything to dispel that myth.
