Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ruben Nevez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mickey Munday!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Ron Honeybunn and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nevez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nevez wants it to stay on the feet.
It looked like Nevez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Munday shoots in for a takedown but Nevez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nevez connects with the punch.

Munday throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Nevez tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Munday is in Nevez's guard.

Munday thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Munday pushes down on Nevez's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Munday performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Munday wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nevez keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Munday works his way into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nevez is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Munday is looking to take a break and control but Nevez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Nevez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Munday on the ground.

Nevez is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Munday asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Munday working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Munday is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Nevez has escaped the position, nice work there.

Munday has an Americana. Nevez didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Munday is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Munday hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mickey Munday!
A relieved looking Mickey Munday thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
