Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Meyer sprawls well initially but James persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
James is looking to take a break and control but Meyer is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Still in half guard, James seems content to control.
James wants to advance to full mount but Meyer doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
James passes Meyer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
James is looking to stall here but Meyer recovers full guard.

James wants to control from the top but Meyer keeps moving.
James wants to stand and escape but instead Meyer has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Meyer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Meyer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round but I would say that Jared Meyer will probably get the nod.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

James drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Meyer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Meyer remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Meyer is taking a breather. James says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Gerald James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jared Meyer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Meyer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
