The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chang closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Chang throws an overhand right that lands on Shafer's shoulder, as Shafer tries to avoid the shot.
Shafer moves out of range of the strikes.
A nice inside leg kick there by Shafer. That's going to slow Chang down.
Chang misses with an uppercut. Shafer saw that one coming.
Shafer throws a counter combo.
Chang stalks Shafer and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Shafer's face. Shafer staggers backwards, shaken.

Chang checks a leg kick.
Shafer throws a body kick that misses.
Shafer lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chang circles away quickly and effectively.
Chang blocks a head kick by Shafer.
An attempted straight right counter from Chang misses the target.
Shafer is looking to land body kicks.
Shafer ducks right into an uppercut from Chang.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chang darts in and clinches Shafer up against the cage.
Chang has a couple of punches blocked by Shafer.
Chang tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Chang tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Shafer is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Chang pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Chang gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Alex Shafer has been cut.
Chang lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shafer backwards.
Chang lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Still in the clinch, Chang scores with a nice short uppercut.
Shafer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Chang fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Shafer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

As Chang backs off Shafer throws a huge counter combo but Chang manages to avoid it all.

Shafer throws a right and a left that Chang avoids nicely.
Pedro Chang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chang bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Shafer's head.

Shafer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Shafer lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
