PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joao Capitao (ranked 5554 p4p, 444 weight class) and Kal Bo (ranked 5477 p4p, 441 weight class). Bo has chosen Breaking The Habit as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Joao Capitao looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joao Capitao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Capitao moves out of range of the body kick from Bo.
Bo lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bo takes a swing at Capitao's ribcage but misses.
Bo cracks Capitao with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Bo closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Bo closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Capitao's guard.
Capitao is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Capitao is looking for a kimura but Bo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Capitao to get the leverage.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Capitao connects with a nice short shot to Bo's temple.
Bo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Capitao. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bo just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromCapitao.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Bo has eaten all the pies!

Capitao moves into range and clinches up with Bo.
Bo tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Capitao avoids it.

Bo breaks the clinch.

Capitao fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bo, pushing him back against the cage.

Bo jumps into guard, dragging Capitao to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Capitao prevents Bo from getting back to his feet.
Bo looks winded!
Capitao controls from within his opponent's guard.

Bo has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Capitao is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bo.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Capitao scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bo to see if he's OK.

Capitao content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Bo is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Capitao decides to stand back up. Capitao steps back and let's Bo get back to his feet.
Bo moves to clinch but Capitao breaks away

and Capitao counters with a shoot takedown. Bo fights it but they end up in guard.
Capitao is standing up over Bo. Bo looks to escape but Capitao dives into side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Kal Bo will probably get the nod.

Capitao has managed to clinch.
Bo looking to throw knees to the head but Capitao is blocking nicely.

Bo breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kal Bo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Capitao avoids a kick to the body.
Capitao shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bo as he avoids it easily.

Capitao forces Bo back against the cage and clinches.

Capitao manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Bo tries to stand but Capitao is controlling from the bottom.
Bo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Bo might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Capitao haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bo is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bo tries to clinch but Capitao moves out of range.

Bo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Capitao tries to get to full guard but Bo has control of the leg.
We've been informed that Bo has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Capitao has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bo is working away from the top position though.
Capitao is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bo scores with a couple of nice shots.

and Capitao counters with a one-two to the body.

Bo throws a right and a left that Capitao avoids nicely.
Capitao tries to close the distance and clinch but Bo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bo feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Capitaos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Capitao breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bo misses the shot to the body.
Capitao throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bo's waist but Bo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Capitao off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Kal Bo will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Capitao ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Capitao no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Capitao escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Bo stands up over Capitao, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kal Bo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Bo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Capitao ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Capitao tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Capitao somewhat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Bo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Capitao did well to prevent Bo getting side control.

Capitao is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Joao Capitao has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Capitao tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

I would just about give that final round to Kal Bo.
I've got Bo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
