Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between William Dewey (ranked 4632 p4p, 338 weight class) and Tyson Avery (ranked 3509 p4p, 279 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, William Dewey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Tyson Avery!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avery misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dewey.
Dewey misses with a leg kick.
Avery fails with the takedown.
Dewey loads up on a big right hand but Avery slips the punch.
Dewey stuffs the takedown attempt from Avery. Avery gets slowly back to his feet.
Avery swinging wildly here.
Avery shoots in for a double leg but Dewey sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
William Dewey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyson Avery.
Avery lands a glancing blow to the side of Dewey's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Avery scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Avery darts in looking for a takedown but Dewey gets double underhooks and turns Avery into the cage.

and Avery counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dewey thinking.

Dewey swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Avery makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Dewey scores with a jab to the head.
Dewey has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dewey there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Avery counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Avery is trying to control the action in half guard but Dewey is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Dewey has his hands clasped together around Avery's back. He's all about the action.
Avery tries to pass to full mount but Dewey defends it.

Avery keeps trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dewey keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

We've been hearing good reports from Dewey's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Avery seems to be working for a kimura but Dewey defends the submission attempt.
Avery has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Avery trying to control but Dewey is having none of it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Avery pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Avery unloads with some shots from mount but Dewey bucks and avoids them well.
Dewey tries to lock up and control but Avery gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Avery wants to control the pace but Dewey is squirming around nicely.
Avery can't control as he wanted to and Dewey manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Avery misses with a head shot. Dewey uses the momentum to regain guard.
Avery controls from within his opponent's guard.

Dewey pushes Avery off and scrambles back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tyson Avery will probably get the nod.

Dewey connects with a high kick.
Avery thuds a left hand into Dewey's body.
Avery steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dewey.
Avery connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Avery gets a takedown into half guard.
Dewey wants to get back to his feet.
Avery thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dewey's head.
Avery lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Avery stalling away here and it's allowed Dewey to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Avery has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Avery is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dewey doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Avery.

Avery is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Avery wants to pass to mount but Dewey is defending the position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Dewey manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Dewey keeping moving, preventing Avery from controlling successfully.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Dewey manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Dewey lands an elbow inside that Avery shrugs off.
Avery is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dewey pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Dewey digs a right hand underneath Avery's ribcage. Avery let out a lung full of air as it connected.
A nice right hand lands inside from Dewey.
Dewey presses Avery against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Dewey lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Dewey - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Avery tries to pull guard but Dewey holds him up against the cage and eventually Avery drops back down to his feet.

William Dewey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyson Avery.
Dewey lands a hook to the side of the head.
Dewey lands with a left to the head.

Avery misses with a hook to the ribs.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Dewey.


Avery is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dewey creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Avery with a big uppercut! Avery tries to clinch up but Dewey pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Avery to the mat! Avery covers up and Dewey unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). William Dewey!
