Pettis wants to pass the guard but Kowalevitz is keeping the position.

Kowalevitz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pettis controls the pace.
Pettis works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Kowalevitz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kowalevitz is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Pettis jumps into side control!

Kowalevitz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Pettis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Pettis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kowalevitz for as long as he can get away with.

Kowalevitz slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Kowalevitz tries to improve his position but Pettis has taken his back! Pettis has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Kowalevitz tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Pettis pushes Kowalevitz away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
