PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bryon Davis (ranked 7814 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Kulina (ranked 8874 p4p, 0 weight class). Kulina comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Here comes the boom kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Bryon Davis has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Kulina!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kulina throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Davis.


It looks like Bryon Davis has been cut.
Davis shoots in looking for a takedown but Kulina manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Davis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Davis takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Davis has closed the distance and engaged Kulina in a clinch.

Davis goes for a double leg but Kulina avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kulina continues to drive forward.

A quick step to the side and Davis tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Davis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kulina manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Davis controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Davis seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kulina jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Davis walks away with a smile on his face. Kulina gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Davis fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kulina to the ground. Davis is now in Kulina's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kulina has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Davis is working Kulina over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kulina is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Davis is aware though and is defending well.

Davis darts in looking for a takedown but Kulina gets double underhooks and turns Davis into the cage.

Davis wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kulina has him pressed against the cage.
Davis lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Davis misses with a short punch on the inside.
Davis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Davis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Kulina clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bryon Davis.
I think Davis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
