Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Luther Snyder (ranked 5891 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Castillo (ranked 6319 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Luther Snyder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jonathan Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Castillo keeps the fight on the outside.

Snyder pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Snyder utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Castillo is taking a breather. Snyder says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Castillo stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Snyder to get to his feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Castillo. Snyder does a little dance to reset his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Snyder enables Castillo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Snyder manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Snyder will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Castillo blocks a low kick nicely.
Snyder misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Snyder swings for the body but Castillo moves out of range.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Castillo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Snyder regains guard immediately.

Castillo wants to pass the guard but Snyder is keeping the position.
Snyder is looking to sweep but instead, Castillo has passed into half guard.

Castillo works his foot free and advances to mount.

Snyder lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Castillo circles away quickly and effectively.
Castillo keeps the fight on the outside.

Castillo goes for a double leg but Snyder avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Snyder continues to drive forward.

Snyder has taken the fight to the clinch.

Snyder tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Castillo smiles and moves away.
Snyder looks to score with a jab to the body but Castillo is just out of range.

Castillo throws the left hand but Snyder avoids the punch easily.
Castillo darts in looking for a takedown but Snyder gets double underhooks and turns Castillo into the cage.
Snyder drops down looking for a counter takedown but Castillo sprawls and moves away.

Snyder is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Snyder tries to close the distance and clinch but Castillo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Castillo circles away from the clinch attempt.

Castillo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Castillo is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Snyder is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Castillo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Snyder knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Castillo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Castillo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Castillo misses with a head shot. Snyder uses the momentum to regain guard.
Castillo wants to control from the top but Snyder keeps moving.
Snyder trying to keep a closed guard but Castillo is proving a slippery customer.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Castillo shoots in for a takedown but Snyder shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Snyder misses with a head kick.
Castillo moves to clinch but Snyder breaks away
and Snyder counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Castillo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Snyder tries to avoid it but Castillo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Snyder to the ground. Snyder escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Castillo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Snyder to the mat! Snyder manages to get full guard.

Snyder is not content to let Castillo control the position.

Castillo is working for a submission of some sort.
Snyder desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Snyder is trying to control but Castillo passes into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonathan Castillo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Snyder tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Castillo was well out of range. Poor timing from Snyder.

Castillo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Snyder but Snyder pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Castillo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Snyder's waist but Snyder gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Castillo off to one side.
Luther Snyder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Castillo.

Castillo has hold of one of Snyder's legs. Snyder is fighting the takedown attempt but Castillo gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Snyder really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Snyder won't allow Castillo to pass to mount.

Snyder wants to get back to full guard but Castillo has mounted him!

Castillo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Snyder has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Snyder!

Snyder drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Castillo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Snyder has Castillo in his guard.

Castillo stands up over Snyder, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Snyder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Snyder not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Snyder working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Castillo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Castillo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Castillo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Castillo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Snyder, pushing him back against the cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Snyder tries for a takedown. No joy.

Castillo has Snyder pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Castillo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Snyder tumbling to the mat - Castillo dives into Snyder's guard.
Snyder has a closed guard, preventing Castillo from standing up.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Castillo lands a couple of decent looking shots.

I've got Castillo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
