PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antony Owen (ranked 24343 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brooke Tessmacher (ranked 5898 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Owen tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tessmacher manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Owen gets caught flat footed, as Tessmacher shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Tessmacher postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Owen shoots in looking for a takedown. Tessmacher tries to sprawl out of it but Owen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tessmacher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Owen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tessmacher defends well and Owen ends up having to push Tessmacher into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

It looked like Owen was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Owen is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Tessmacher fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Owen sprawls well initially but Tessmacher persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tessmacher in particular looking to stall.
Tessmacher's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Let's hope that Tessmacher has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Owen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tessmacher doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tessmacher manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Owen shoots and misses
and Tessmacher cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Owen enables Tessmacher to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Owen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well Tessmacher has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
