The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wagdy tries for a takedown but Pottah circles away easily
and Pottah counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Pottah looks to score with a jab to the body but Wagdy is just out of range.
Wagdy blocks a jab.

Wagdy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Wagdy won't allow Pottah to get back to his feet.
Wagdy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pottah's guard.
Wagdy is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pottah!

Wagdy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Pottah has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Wagdy has control of Pottah's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pottah regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Pottah tries to buck Wagdy off but he can't manage it.

Wagdy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pottah is looking to escape.
Wagdy sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Wagdy wants to control the pace but Pottah is squirming around nicely.

Wagdy working for a guillotine from mount but Pottah is in no mood to give up.
Pottah is trying to stand.

Wagdy jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pottah manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Pottah tries to escape back to his feet but Wagdy has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Pottah's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Pottah is tapping! Wagdy saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Mustafa Wagdy!
A relieved looking Mustafa Wagdy thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
