The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson dodges the punch combination from Klinger.

Thompson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Klinger to the mat! Klinger manages to get full guard.
Thompson is looking to pass into half guard but Klinger pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Klinger is in guard.

Thompson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Thompson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Thompson is trying to keep Klinger in close.

Thompson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Klinger's guard.

Klinger keeping moving, preventing Thompson from controlling successfully.
Klinger wants to stand and escape but Thompson is having none of it.
Thompson forces his way into half guard.
Thompson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Thompson stalling.

Klinger keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Klinger is refusing to be controlled, as Thompson sits in half guard.
Thompson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Klinger with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Thompson is looking for a kimura here.
Thompson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Klinger keeps working.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thompson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Klinger counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Thompson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A nice side step and Klinger releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Klinger but Klinger pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Despite the aggression on Klinger's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Klinger cracks a nice hook into Thompson's ribs.
Thompson moves to clinch but Klinger breaks away
and Klinger counters with a nice uppercut.

Thompson has his takedown stuffed
and Klinger counters with a three punch combo that has Thompson backing up. Thompson nods at Klinger to acknowledge the strikes.

Thompson shoots in for a double leg but Klinger sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Klinger counters with a crisp one two that drops Thompson! Klinger thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Thompson to his feet! Thompson is in big trouble!

Klinger tests Thompson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That kick from Klinger tenderised Thompson's leg. Thompson is trying to keep his angry face on.
Micheal Klinger seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Klinger looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Thompson appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

and Klinger counters with a stiff right hand.
Thompson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Klinger counters with a straight right hand.
Klinger throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Thompson crashing down! Thompson tries to stagger back to his feet but Klinger just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Thompson asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
