Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sampson Shain (ranked 5199 p4p, 500 weight class) and Jean Labosky (ranked 16401 p4p, 700 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sampson Shain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 25 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jean Labosky!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Shain misses.
Shain tries a head kick but it misses.

Labosky clinches.

Shain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Labosky throws a sloppy head kick
and Shain counters with a nice uppercut.
Labosky pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fighters circling - Shain throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Shain swings away with a body shot that misses

and Labosky holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Shain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Labosky moves out of range of the body kick from Shain.
Labosky lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shain scores with a body shot.
Labosky misses with the body kick
letting Shain counter with a right hand.

Labosky has closed the distance and engaged Shain in a clinch.
Labosky lands with a right to the head.

Shain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Labosky moves out of range of the leg kick from Shain.
Labosky tries to counter with a clinch but Shain shakes him off and moves away.
Shain throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Labosky on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Shain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Labosky has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shain. Labosky does a little dance to reset his feet.
Labosky takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Shain misses with an uppercut. Labosky saw that one coming.
Shain catches Labosky with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Labosky moves out of range as Shain strikes.
Labosky throws a right hand that Shain ducks under and follows up with a left that Shain also avoids with ease.

Labosky moves into the clinch.
Shain lands a hook to the side of the head.
Shain trying to control the position but instead, Labosky has worked for underhooks and has pushed Shain into the cage.
Labosky working hard to break the clinch.
Shain tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Shain pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Shain throws a push kick but Labosky slaps the foot to one side.

Shain throws a shot from downtown. Labosky moves away and avoids it.
Labosky on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Shain scores with a crisp jab that stopped Labosky in his tracks.
Labosky ducks under a wild hook from Shain.
Labosky misses with a looping right.
The fight stays on the outside here - Labosky looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shain misses with a shot to the body
and Labosky counters with a one-two to the body.
Shain takes a head kick and shrugs it off.


It looks like Sampson Shain has been cut.
Shain throws a hook but Labosky avoids it easily.
Shain comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Labosky counters with a left and a right that stings Shain.
Labosky tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Shain was well out of range. Poor timing from Labosky.

Labosky throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Shain lets loose with a powerful body kick. Labosky will feel that in the morning.
Shain throws a front kick aimed at Labosky's knee but Labosky avoids it well.
Shain lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Shain avoids a kick to the body.
Labosky misses with a combination
and Shain counters with a leg kick.
Labosky throws a sloppy body shot
and Shain counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Shain circles away from the clinch attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Labosky throws a right and a left that Shain avoids nicely.
Shain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Shain lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Labosky on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Labosky tries to clinch there but Shain circles away.
Shain throws a sloppy head kick and Labosky moves out of range easily.
Labosky looks like he wants to counter punch here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters circle momentarily. Labosky darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Shain tries to land a front kick but Labosky steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Shain just misses with a punch to the body.
Labosky avoids the body shot from Shain.
Shain is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Labosky can do to turn this around?
A lazy left from Shain finds it's target.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Labosky crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shain - the referee stops the clock and Labosky gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shain. Labosky manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Labosky bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Labosky swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Shain swings wildly with an uppercut but Labosky uses good head movement to avoid it.

Labosky tries to stall but Shain uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Shain pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Labosky doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

and Shain cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Labosky misses with a head kick.
Sampson Shain is winning the standup battle so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Labosky looks for the body kick but Shain saw that one coming.

Labosky unleashes a big counter combination but Shain bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

Labosky is looking to clinch but Shain is avoiding it.
Shain connects with a good right hand that stumbles Labosky. Labosky circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Shain thumps Labosky with a low kick.
Shain lands with a kick to the temple. Labosky shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Shain tried to score with a low kick but Labosky checks it.
Labosky throws a counter combo.
Shain attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Some bone on bone action there as Labosky checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Labosky drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Shain defends it well.

Shain fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Shain's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Labosky tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shain smiles and moves away.
Labosky throws a push kick but Shain slaps the foot to one side.
Labosky avoids the head kick by Shain.
Shain throws a head kick that misses.

Labosky wants to clinch.
Labosky tries to clinch up but Shain circles away and keeps his distance.
Shain swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Labosky closes the distance and clinches.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Labosky is trying to break the clinch but Shain is controlling him.

Shain breaks the clinch.
Labosky checks a leg kick.

Labosky sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Shain misses with a right hand
and Labosky counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Shain lands a really nice looking cross but Labosky seems unphased.

Jean Labosky has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Labosky throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Shain avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

It looked like Shain was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Labosky.

Labosky takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sampson Shain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shain, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
