PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Eduardo (ranked 1453 p4p, 211 weight class) and Robert McKenna (ranked 1963 p4p, 279 weight class). McKenna has chosen Freedom as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Fernando Eduardo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robert McKenna!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenna darts in looking for a takedown but Eduardo gets double underhooks and turns McKenna into the cage.
McKenna with a lazy takedown attempt
and Eduardo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Eduardo throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
McKenna drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Eduardo defends it well.
Eduardo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
McKenna slips a jab from Eduardo.
McKenna shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Eduardo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


It looks like Robert McKenna has been cut.
Fernando Eduardo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert McKenna.
Eduardo displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McKenna.
Eduardo blocks a head kick by McKenna.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McKenna dives in and grabs Eduardo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Eduardo pushes down on McKenna's head and hops out.

McKenna closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Eduardo did well to prevent McKenna getting side control.
Eduardo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McKenna is working away from the top position though.
Eduardo wants to improve his position but McKenna is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McKenna seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Eduardo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Eduardo has his hands clasped together around McKenna's back. He's all about the action.
McKenna passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Eduardo!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McKenna lands a nice shot to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McKenna content just to control the position here.
McKenna scores with a couple of good head shots there.
McKenna looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McKenna can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Eduardo is looking to escape.

McKenna lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
McKenna throws some wild stikes that Eduardo manages to avoid easily.
Eduardo tries to lock up and control but McKenna gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Eduardo can't escape the position.
McKenna tries to control but Eduardo wriggling away.
Eduardo in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
McKenna controlling his opponent.
McKenna postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Eduardo bigstyle! Two more strikes land for McKenna and the fight is over!
