Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Stroev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Adam Smith!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stroev throws a body kick that misses.
Smith unleashes a big counter combination but Stroev bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Smith blocks a head kick by Stroev.
Smith scores with a jab to the head.
Smith lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Stroev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Stroev persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stroev is one step ahead there.
Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Stroev is controlling him.

Stroev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Stroev is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Stroev is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Stroev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stroev prevents Smith from getting back to his feet.

Stroev with a flurry of punches that miss.
Stroev pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smith is keeping the position for now.
Stroev throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely.

Smith has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Stroev is on him like a limpet, forcing Smith back against the ropes.

Smith goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Stroev is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Smith pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Smith wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Stroev has him pressed against the ropes.
Stroev has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Smith is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Victor Stroev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stroev drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Smith gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Stroev is breathing heavily.
Smith is trying to maintain a safe position but Stroev gets an underhook and turns Smith into the ropes.
Stroev tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the ropes.

Stroev jumps guard but Smith stands there with Stroev around his waist. Stroev gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Smith is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Stroev decides to pull guard.
Smith passes into half guard.
Smith throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Stroev has managed to free his arm - good work.

Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Stroev defends it well.

Stroev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Stroev tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
Stroev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Smith passes the guard and advances to mount!

Smith stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stroev scores with a takedown into Smith's guard.

Smith manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the ropes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Victor Stroev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stroev slips under a jab.

Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Stroev's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Stroev's back!
