Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nobunaga Tanaka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kosma Wawelski!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanaka lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Tanaka is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Despite the aggression on Wawelski's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Wawelski looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Wawelski throws a body punch but Tanaka moves out of range.

Tanaka moves into the clinch successfully.
Wawelski blocks a body shot from Tanaka.
Wawelski misses with a body punch.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Tanaka blocks a punch to the side of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wawelski.

Tanaka jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wawelski walks away with a smile on his face. Tanaka gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Tanaka leaves Wawelski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Tanaka has Wawelski pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Tanaka pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Wawelski tumbling to the mat - Tanaka dives into Wawelski's guard.
Wawelski is looking to stand back up but Tanaka counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Wawelski.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wawelski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tanaka is working away from the top position though.

Wawelski is looking to improve his position.

Tanaka is looking for a kimura here.
Tanaka misses with a head shot. Wawelski uses the momentum to regain guard.
Tanaka slips nicely into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tanaka is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wawelski is just riding it out for now. Tanaka eventually gives up the hold.

Tanaka fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
We've been hearing that Tanaka has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Wawelski is desperately trying to improve his position but Tanaka has a good base and remains in mount.

Tanaka looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Tanaka trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Tanaka jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wawelski is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wawelski and Tanaka has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Wawelski misses with a few strikes there.
Wawelski throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tanaka appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Kosma Wawelski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tanaka is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Despite the aggression on Wawelski's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Wawelski throws a right and a left that Tanaka avoids nicely.

and Tanaka decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wawelski's guard.
Tanaka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nobunaga Tanaka overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wawelski is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Tanaka asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Tanaka tries to advance to mount but Wawelski denies him.
Wawelski is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Wawelski can't do much from the bottom here.
Wawelski is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Tanaka is staying active.
Tanaka is working Wawelski over with some ground and pound from side control.
