The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson slips a jab from Khadartsev.
Thompson swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Thompson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Thompson has momentary wrist control but Khadartsev slips an elbow through the middle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Khadartsev accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Khadartsev lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Khadartsev keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thompson's head.
Khadartsev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Khadartsev is working Thompson over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Thompson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Khadartsev on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thompson is rocked!
Khadartsev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Oh Thompson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Khadartsev gets to his feet and stands over Thompson, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Thompson felt that one! Khadartsev unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Thompson from any more punishment!
