Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mendes Alvarento (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Quinn is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mendes Alvarento!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Quinn!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quinn misses with a takedown attempt - Alvarento sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Quinn takes a kick to the side of the head.

Quinn looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Quinn is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Alvarento sees it coming and defends easily.
Quinn prevents Alvarento from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quinn controlling the action here.
Quinn is thwarting Alvarento's attempts to control the position.
Quinn tries to stand but can't do so whilst Alvarento controls his leg.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quinn seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Quinn is controlling the pace.
Alvarento is pressing down on Quinn's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Quinn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alvarento works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Quinn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Quinn stands and throws Alvarento's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Quinn tries for a kimura but Alvarento is defending well.
Alvarento knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Quinn on the ground.
Quinn looks gassed!
Quinn tries to move to mount but Alvarento blocks the move with his legs.

Quinn tries for a kimura but Alvarento is defending well.
Alvarento pecks away with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Quinn wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alvarento, who protects the arm well.
Quinn tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Alvarento sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Alvarento wants to get back to full guard.
Quinn is tying to control. Alvarento wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Quinn looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Quinn wants to stand up but Alvarento is controlling the position.
Alvarento is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Well, if Quinn is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Alvarento's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Quinn gets caught flat footed, as Alvarento shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Quinn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Quinn has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Alvarento should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Quinn has tightened it up now! Alvarento should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
