Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Logan Olsen (ranked 24255 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Buffet (ranked 6116 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Logan Olsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shane Buffet!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olsen throws a hook but Buffet blocks it.
Olsen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Buffet clinches up against the cage.

Buffet gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Olsen looking to hit a scissor sweep but Buffet is one step ahead there.
Buffet throws an elbow that misses. Olsen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Buffet's guard. Nice move by Olsen!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Olsen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Olsen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Buffet escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Olsen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Olsen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Buffet is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Olsen is controlling him.
Olsen looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Buffet closes the distance and clinches.

Buffet turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Buffet manages to end up in side control.
Olsen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Olsen is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Buffet asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Olsen is looking to regain half guard here but Buffet keeps moving and retains side control.
Olsen is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Buffet seems to be looking for submissions.

Olsen is defending against the submission attempts here by Buffet.

Buffet working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Buffet won't allow Olsen to get back to his feet.

Buffet is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Olsen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Olsen has escaped and now he's on top!


Olsen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Buffet is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Olsen, into his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Buffet dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Buffet forces Olsen back against the cage and clinches.

Buffet has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Buffet goes for a takedown in the clinch but Olsen prevents it.
Buffet is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Olsen is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buffet is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Olsen is defending well for now.

Buffet breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Olsen has closed the distance and engaged Buffet in a clinch.

Buffet has hold of one of Olsen's legs. Olsen is fighting the takedown attempt but Buffet gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Buffet looking to sit in guard and control but Olsen gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Olsen makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Buffet has momentary wrist control but Olsen slips an elbow through the middle.
Buffet is looking to stand back up but Olsen counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Buffet.
Olsen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Buffet does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Olsen is controlling the pace.
Buffet is looking for a sweep. Olsen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Buffet is trying to maintain the position but Olsen is very close to passing his half guard.
Olsen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Buffet is defending against the submission attempts here by Olsen.
Buffet is trying to control but Olsen manages to pass to mount!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Olsen has hold of Buffet's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Buffet manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Olsen wants to control the pace but Buffet is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Buffet is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Olsen is looking to counter punch.
Olsen throws a jab but it's blocked by Buffet.
Buffet misses with a straight left.
Buffet tries to clinch up but Olsen circles away and keeps his distance.

Olsen gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Buffet changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Olsen fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Olsen misses with an uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Olsen swats away the attempt to clinch by Buffet.
It looked like Olsen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Olsen throws an overhand right that lands on Buffet's shoulder, as Buffet tries to avoid the shot.
Buffet looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Shane Buffet is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Olsen slips a jab and a cross from Buffet.
Buffet takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Olsen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Buffet tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Olsen swivels and escapes.

Buffet fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Olsen, pushing him back against the cage.
Olsen is trying to break free.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Buffet takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Buffet can't get the takedown.
Logan Olsen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane Buffet.
Olsen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Buffet gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Olsen is trying to drag Buffet to the mat but Buffet just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Olsen is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Buffet is keeping busy.

Olsen throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Buffet blocks it with crossed arms.
Olsen looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Olsen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Buffet has hold of one of Olsen's legs. Olsen is fighting the takedown attempt but Buffet gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Olsen trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Buffet won't allow Olsen to sweep him here.
Olsen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Buffet is doing well to control the position and prevent Olsen from advancing to side control.
