PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Finch (ranked 24305 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otto Rocket (ranked 5979 p4p, 0 weight class). Otto Rocket will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rocket shoots in for a takedown but Finch shows good takedown defense.

Rocket drives through and clinches with Finch against the cage.
Finch is trying to force a seperation but Rocket has the dominant position.
Finch tries to pull guard but Rocket holds him up against the cage and eventually Finch drops back down to his feet.

Rocket manages to break the clinch.
Rocket dives in for a single leg takedown but Finch sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Finch waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rocket.
Rocket throws a big counter head kick but Finch avoids it with no problem.
Rocket thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Finch if he has to take too many more of those.
Rocket dives in and grabs Finch's left leg, looking for a takedown. Finch pushes down on Rocket's head and hops out.
Leroy Finch has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otto Rocket.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rocket shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Finch eats them both and turns towards Rocket to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

It looks like Leroy Finch has been cut.

Finch shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Finch throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rocket's waist but Rocket gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Finch off to one side.

Finch stuffs the takedown attempt from Rocket. Rocket gets slowly back to his feet.
A slow jab from Finch misses its intended target.
Both fighters circling a little - Rocket finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Finch is breathing heavily.
Finch keeps the fight on the outside.
Finch attempts a counter takedown but Rocket avoids it well and moves away.

Finch was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Finch shoots and misses

and Rocket holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Rocket escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rocket shoots for a double leg takedown but Finch sprawls well. He's pushed Rocket's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rocket changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Finch tries to avoid it but Rocket manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Finch to the ground. Finch escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Finch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Finch wants it to stay on the feet.

Finch shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rocket napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Rocket really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Finch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Finch is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Rocket is trying to escape and Finch transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Rocket is forced to tap! Nice work there by Finch! Very nice indeed!
