PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hans Hermann Hoppe (ranked 1985 p4p, 223 weight class) and Osiris Egyptian (ranked 4724 p4p, 465 weight class). Hoppe comes into the arena with Wind of Change blaring out of the sound system. Osiris Egyptian will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hans Hermann Hoppe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Osiris Egyptian!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Arvi Lind and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Egyptian throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Egyptian takes a swing at Hoppe's ribcage but misses.
Hoppe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Hans Hermann Hoppe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoppe throws a head kick but Egyptian moves out of range.
Hoppe misses with a jab to the body
and Egyptian connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Egyptian dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Hoppe gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Egyptian.
Hoppe fails with a takedown attempt.
We've been hearing reports that Hoppe has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Egyptian throws a series of punches but Hoppe moves out of range.

Hoppe takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Hoppe throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Egyptian looks like he wants to counter punch here.

and Egyptian counters with a one-two to the body.
Hoppe moves forwards but Egyptian connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Hoppe throws a hook to the side of Egyptian's head but Egyptian sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Egyptian feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Hoppes jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Good standup being displayed there by Egyptian as he connects with a hook.
Hoppe takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Egyptian's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Egyptian duly obliges.
Egyptian avoids the head kick by Hoppe.
Egyptian is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Hoppe had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Hoppe throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Egyptian counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Egyptian scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Egyptian swings away with a body shot that misses
and Hoppe counters with a three punch combo that has Egyptian backing up. Egyptian nods at Hoppe to acknowledge the strikes.
Hoppe pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Hoppe fails to land with a series of punches.
Hoppe throws a shot from downtown. Egyptian moves away and avoids it.
Egyptian swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Egyptian moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Hoppe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
It seemed like Egyptian was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Egyptian fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Hoppe tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Egyptian swivels and escapes.
Egyptian lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Egyptian has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Egyptian scores with a jab to the head.
Hoppe looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Hoppe takes one on the button.
Egyptian might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Hoppe throws a leg kick but Egyptian sees it coming and moves out of range.
Hoppe moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Egyptian punishes Hoppe's body with a nice straight punch.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hoppe fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Osiris Egyptian dominated that round.
That's time! Hoppe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Egyptian scores with a sloppy right hand. Hoppe should have avoided that one.

Hoppe needs to keep his hands up - Egyptian had a free shot at his head there.

and Egyptian counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Hoppe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Hoppe.
Egyptian lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Egyptian has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Egyptian enables Hoppe to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Egyptian manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Egyptian is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hoppe laying and praying for a moment but Egyptian takes advantage and regains half guard.
Egyptian really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hoppe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Egyptian wants to improve his position but Hoppe is controlling well.
Hoppe wants to pass the guard but Egyptian is defending well.

Hoppe is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Egyptian has managed to free his arm - good work.
Egyptian is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hoppe trying to mount his opponent but Egyptian defends it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hoppe looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Hoppe throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Egyptian makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Egyptian.
Hoppe lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hoppe controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Egyptian keeping moving, preventing Hoppe from controlling successfully.

Hoppe has gone for a leg lock! Egyptian slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hoppe's guard.


Hoppe has his foot on Egyptian's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Egyptian works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Osiris Egyptian showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Hoppe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Egyptian's guard.

Hoppe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Egyptian is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hoppe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hoppe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Egyptian tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hoppe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Egyptian is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hoppe connects with a decent elbow.
Egyptian prevents Hoppe from moving into mount.
Hoppe looks up at the clock and then as Egyptian takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hoppe smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Hoppe cracks Egyptian with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Hoppe wants to control but Egyptian is keeping him busy.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Egyptian can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hoppe has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Egyptian!

Egyptian tries to lock up and control but Hoppe gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hoppe is landing with some decent strikes but Egyptian is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Hans Hermann Hoppe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee warns Egyptian that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Egyptian is in all sorts of trouble here.
Egyptian wants to hold on but Hoppe pushes him away.
Egyptian is trying desperately to improve position.
Hoppe in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hoppe can't control as he wanted to and Egyptian manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Hans Hermann Hoppe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Osiris Egyptian is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Egyptian is looking for a sweep. Hoppe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
