The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatfield tries to sprawl but Valatudo drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Hatfield might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Valatudo slows the pace down in half guard.
Valatudo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hatfield defends it well.
Valatudo is trying to work for a kimura but Hatfield is defending well.
Hatfield is not content to let Valatudo control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valatudo content to control rather than advance.
Valatudo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hatfield does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Valatudo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hatfield sees it coming and defends easily.
Valatudo is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Hatfield is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
