Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Hudson (ranked 23836 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 8474 p4p, 0 weight class). John Smith will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Quinton Hudson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hudson leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Hudson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hudson wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Quinton Hudson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Hudson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Hudson prevents Smith from improving his position.
Hudson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Hudson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hudson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Smith trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Smith is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Smith is still trying to improve position.
Smith looks winded!
Hudson lands a big shot there that rocks Smith but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Hudson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Smith can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Hudson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Smith to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Smith shrugs it off.
Smith is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Hudson connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Smith tries to get to full guard but Hudson has control of the leg.

Hudson is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hudson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Hudson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Well, if Hudson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hudson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hudson is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Hudson circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Hudson shows good takedown defense.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hudson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hudson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hudson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hudson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Smith is looking for a sweep.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hudson decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Smith closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hudson circles away.

Hudson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hudson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith!


Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Hudson is defending well.

Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Hudson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith swings around for an armbar but Hudson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Smith's guard.

Hudson stands and steps away. Smith gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Smith has hold of Hudson's hands but Hudson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hudson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Smith tries to get to full guard but Hudson has control of the leg.

Hudson postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Smith is working an open guard so Hudson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hudson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Hudson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Smith controls Hudson momentarily but Hudson frees himself.

Hudson stands and steps away. Smith gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hudson shoots in and bounces Smith off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hudson wants to get up but he can't break Smith's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

John Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Quinton Hudson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hudson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well Hudson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
